Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza Ground Breaking
Friday, March 29 was a gorgeous Nevada morning! It found 11 RCC members gathered at Starbucks on Sparks Blvd waiting to attend the Ground Breaking ceremony for the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza at the Sparks Marina Park. Shortly before 10 the group arrived at the park to find parking was at a premium and ended up scattered in the Western Village parking lot! When we joined the crowd for the festivities we were excited that there were probably several hundred people in attendance to witness this celebration and to honor all military veterans! The speeches from the various dignitaries including the Mayors of both Sparks and Reno, a Washoe County Commissioner and Congressman Mark Amodei were short and to the point. The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of over $56,000 to the Foundation by Reno Buick Cadillac GMC! Following the speeches and photos the group went to BJ’s Brewery for a nice lunch and lots of good conversation.
